Ask The Crew
Q: Will airport x-ray damage my film?
A: Yes, since September 11th new scanners have been installed which can damage film; exposed or not. Keep your film in your carry-on bag. Airport security can hand-check your film and camera before going thru x-ray. You can also purchase a lead bag to protect your film instead of having it hand-checked. However, with the new security procedures the lead bag will still be checked by security. DO NOT put film, even in a lead bag, in your checked luggage. The amount of x-ray used for checked bags is much stronger than at the passenger screening area. Sometimes airport security does not want to take the time to hand-check film, and will tell you x-ray does not damage film, but it does.
Q: Will airport x-ray damage my digital camera? A: No. Magnets might cause a problem with your memory card, but not x-ray.
Q: What's the best digital camera to buy? A: The best one is the one that suits your needs and is comfortable to use. If there was only one that's the best then we would only sell that one! Some people want small while others like the larger cameras and so on. Some are happy with 3x zoom, others want as much zoom as possible. The best way to select a camera is to check it out in person.
